Student governance is authorized by Board Policy 7015. This rule describes the purpose, selection 的学生 to serve, and the funding of the student government which represents 学生.
THE ASSOCIATED STUDENTS OF LINN-BENTON COMMUNITY COLLEGE
Students taking credit classes are considered members of the Associated Students of Linn-Benton 社区 College (AS博天堂官方). Members of 的AS博天堂官方 have the right to organize a representative organization for the purpose of advancing the quality of the student 有博天堂官方工作经验.
STUDENT LEADERSHIP COUNCIL
The 博天堂官方 学生领导 Council (SLC) acts as a representative organization of 的AS博天堂官方. The SLC serves as a liaison between 学生 and the administration, assists 学生 with advocacy and lobbying for a variety of student interest topics, and represents the student body in committee meetings and at college events. 的关系 between the SLC and the administration is documented in an agreement of understanding and reviewed each spring in a meeting between the incoming SLC, the College president, 以及其他受邀的工作人员.
A. Selection of Students to Serve
The AS博天堂官方 shall establish a process in 的AS博天堂官方 Constitution 和章程 for the selection 的学生 to serve in leadership roles in the SLC. 学院将协助 in determining that 学生 meet academic and student conduct check requirements 每个SLC位置. 选择 process will be conducted in a manner supportive of the learning environment and inclusive of all members of 的AS博天堂官方. 选择 process will be designed in collaboration with the College.
B. 设计
The SLC will establish in its Constitution and Bylaws an organizational structure to serve the representative and programming interests of the ALSBCC. 宪法 和章程 will define SLC positions and duties.
Dedicated members of the SLC are responsible for developing and implementing activities that support the social, cultural, recreational, emotional, and spiritual development 的学生. SLC members are expected to participate in leadership development and civic engagement activities as part of their educational experience.
The SLC shall ensure that 学生 are appointed to College committees and councils where student representation is designated. When the College establishes ad hoc committees or task groups that benefit from student involvement, the College will work with the SLC to have eligible members of 的AS博天堂官方 appointed.
C. 资金
Members of 的AS博天堂官方 pay an AS博天堂官方费 based on enrollment level and a rate recommended by the SLC and approved by the Board of Education. The SLC member responsible for budget management receives training from the College concerning Banner reports, cash management, fundraising, expenditure approvals and limits, and other finance and budget topics necessary to be in compliance with College policies and procedures. 失败 to follow established College policies and procedures may result in the freezing of SLC accounts until the College is satisfied that effective corrective measures have 被.
The SLC will follow an annual budgeting process that is approved in 的AS博天堂官方 Constitution 和章程. The process will coincide with the College’s annual budgeting process. The SLC budget will be available for public inspection.
The AS博天堂官方费 may be adjusted by garnering the required level of support from the AS博天堂官方 membership as established in 的AS博天堂官方 Constitution 和章程. SLC使 a recommendation about the enrollment levels and related fee rates to the College president and is subject to Board of Education approval. 建议应 include evidence of AS博天堂官方 support, rationale for the change, and a budget reflecting the impact of the change in the fee.
Members of the SLC will receive SLC grants for their service. AS博天堂官方章程 和章程 specify the distribution of grants per SLC position. SLC成员 the amount for which they are enrolled up to 12 credits.
